The European Secularist Network took part in the seminar held on 9 June at the European Parliament under Article 17 TFEU (Dialogue with churches, religious associations or communities, as well as philosophical and non-confessional organisations).
Véronique de Keyser, former MEP and President of the ESN, provided a secularist perspective on the seminar’s theme, ‘Health and Wellbeing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’. She began by highlighting the close alignment of views between the various faiths represented and the secularists, humanists and freethinkers present on this subject. All affirmed their commitment to preserving human control over AI. Technological progress is beneficial, but must remain at the service of humanity.
The European Secularist Network will continue to advocate that the European Union does not weaken its protection of online privacy and ensures that the deployment of AI is carried out in a manner consistent with its values.
